Key Outcomes
Sevarah is a volunteer management platform connecting NGOs, volunteers, and corporate CSR teams. I lead product decisions and build the platform using AI-assisted development — alongside a UX/UI designer and a researcher & art director.
Concept
The Problem
Volunteer coordination in India is broken. NGOs manage volunteers through WhatsApp groups and spreadsheets. Volunteers can't discover opportunities. Corporate CSR teams have budgets but no efficient way to deploy them. Three groups, three completely different workflows, no unified system connecting them.
Solution
Three Portals, One System
Sevarah gives each user group a purpose-built experience — NGOs manage events and volunteers, volunteers discover and track opportunities, CSR teams sponsor and measure impact — all powered by one shared data layer underneath.
NGO Portal
Create events, manage volunteer rosters, track attendance, generate impact reports, and communicate with volunteers — replacing WhatsApp chaos with structure.
Volunteer Portal
Discover opportunities by cause, location, and time. Track hours, build a verified volunteering profile, and earn recognition.
CSR Portal
Browse vetted NGOs, sponsor events, track employee participation, and generate compliance-ready CSR reports.
Architecture
Technical Decisions
Built as a monorepo with shared packages, deployed on Vercel with Supabase as the database and auth layer. The architecture prioritizes speed of iteration while maintaining long-term maintainability.
Monorepo Structure
Admin, web app, and marketing site share components, types, and utilities — changes propagate instantly across all surfaces.
Supabase + Prisma
Supabase for auth and realtime, Prisma for type-safe database access and migrations — best of both worlds.
Role-Based Access
Row-level security policies ensure each user group only sees their own data, with org-level isolation for multi-tenancy.
Team & Process
Team & My Role
Sevarah is a small team effort. I lead product strategy, make all key decisions, and build the platform using AI-assisted development. The team includes a UX/UI designer handling interaction and visual design, and a researcher & art director covering user research and brand direction.
Product & Development (Me)
Product vision, architecture decisions, AI-assisted full-stack development, deployment, and overall project leadership.
UX/UI Designer
Interaction design, component design, user flows, and interface polish across all three portals.
Researcher & Art Director
User research, competitive analysis, brand identity, and visual direction for the platform.
Status
Current Status
Sevarah is currently in research and testing. We're conducting user research with NGOs and volunteers in India, validating assumptions, and iterating on the product based on real feedback before committing to a public launch.
Research & Testing Phase
Running user interviews, testing prototypes, and validating the three-portal model with real NGOs and volunteer communities in India.
India-First Approach
Starting with the Indian nonprofit ecosystem — understanding local needs, regulatory context, and volunteer behavior before expanding.
AI-Assisted Build
Platform built using AI-assisted development — proving that product-minded leaders can ship complex SaaS without a traditional engineering team.
